you don't know my story
Dear lovers, loved ones, instacousins & extended family by way of someone who’s real real close to my heart,
We’re headed to Egypt in April and I’m hoping you are joining us! I’m taking 10 people to see the ancient sites—the Pyramids, the Sphinx, and the temples of Upper Egypt. You could see these sites rolling up with a herd of 40 other tourists, or hire a random guide who will help you take all the cheesy photos to light your instagram on fire but leave you lacking in a real substantive experience, and in a historical, cultural, metaphysical and spiritual understanding of the pyramids and pharaonic history. But this is one of those things you should do and do right for the first time.
And if you’re going to go, shouldn’t you do it sailing down the nile by Dahabeya (or traditional double masted sailboat that was designed to carry the elite up and down the nile). And since you’ll have seen it by water, shouldn’t you also hop in a hot air balloon and also see it from the sky? And since you’ve flown so far, shouldn’t you also discover the seduction of the desert and the majesty of the Mediterranean Sea? And wouldn’t you want someone local to be your guide-host-friend to show you around so you can skip over the gimmicks and can get to the good spots—the hidden gems?
I’ve put together this travel experience for people who want to see the sites, but also want to get off the beaten path. Through a lot of travel, I’ve decided that I enjoy trips where you arrive in a city—hype and ready to rock and you use that energy to see the sites. And then I want to escape into nature, recalibrate—enter dramatic landscapes and all the elements. And then at the end I want a nice shower, a bit of luxury and a whole lot of relaxation so it still feels like a vacation. So that what I’m offering. While seeing a lot of Egypt in two weeks does evoke an action-packed sort of vibe, I take energy (yours, mine and ours) pretty seriously, so I’ve tried to also create opportunities for down time and rest... or use the time to explore—yourself or your surroundings.
S0 here’s the plan
Cairo April 6-9
Aswan April 9-10
Nile Cruise on dahabeya (traditional sailboat)—Aswan to Esna April 10-13
Travel day—Luxor to Cairo (plane) and Cairo to Siwa (microbus) 15
Siwa desert oasis April 15-18
Marsa Matruh—Mediterranean Sea: April 18-19
Cairo—April 20 Depart
These are truly divine places you should experience first hand. But you already know that. For some of you, Egypt has been on your bucket list for a long time—maybe a really long time. Me personally, I felt a calling and I’m trying to be in the spiritual habit of not needing to be called twice. So I came. And if you’re feeling called, it's probably time you come too.
The magic of Egypt is still very much alive today. You can feel it at these sites. But you can also feel it in the way the people you meet feel as though they’ve already known you for a long time. You feel it in the way the landscapes themselves seem animated and full of life lessons they are whispering over you at any given moment. You really feel it in the way circumstances unfold in your favor the more you just let go of expectations and just let life do the damn thing.
The cost of the trip is $3,375 per person. If you bring a friend, are making it a baecation or would like to share a room you both will receive a $200 dollar discount, or $3,175 per person. If you are solo, but wish to share a room, let me know and ill pair you with whoever is looking for the same. I’ve also included a number of pictures from some of establishments where we will be staying. So please use them as a reference but again note some things may change. This price includes all in-country travel, accommodations, tours, nile cruise, hot air balloon, entrances to sites, and most meals—there are couple lunches I’ve left room for us to try local street foods or explore meals on our own—those will be indicated in itinerary. Not included: international flights, personal shopping, outside excursions, spas, and whatever else you feel like buying.
To secure your spot on the trip please contact me to make a payment. At least a 25% or a payment of $843.75 is required to reserve your spot on the trip. Spots will go to the first ten people who are ready with their deposits or payments. If you make a deposit instead of the full payment, plan to be in touch about your plan for paying the rest. I can accept your remaining payments after the deposit up until a month before the trip. I know this trip represents a significant investment of time and money, so I hope this helps to accommodate more people. Please be in touch if there is anything else I can do to make it possible.
